No Waste Fire Starters
Have you ever wondered what to do with your extra egg cartons and dryer lint besides just tossing them in the trash?
Instead of throwing them away, why not make your own fire starters? It’s super simple and you’ll feel good about using the things you have on hand to get your fire going without gas or chemicals!
These are also great to bring camping to get your fire going!
During the fall and winter, I like to burn beeswax taper candles. When they’re done, I set the stumps aside and collect them.
While I’m doing that, I’m also collecting dryer lint in an egg carton. We normally give cartons back to the man we buy our eggs from, but I also keep a couple to make these.
I really hate wasting and I’m always thinking of ways to reduce our waste in our household!
I’ve posted a video tutorial for you to watch but here are some basic things you’ll need:
Egg Carton
Dryer Lint
Beeswax
Dried Cedar (optional and only for use in outdoor fires as cedar is highly flammable. Just leave it out for indoor fires.)
Scissors
You’ll be boiling the wax down in a double boiler or makeshift double boiler, pouring hot wax over the lint, then cutting each section out when the wax solidifies! It’s really that simple!
Please feel free to watch the tutorial below or on my IGTV channel! Also, if you like this, you can follow along on Instagram for other miscellaneous crafting and ways to keep good home while reducing waste!
